| Milwaukee Road E7 19B on the north side of Union Station in Chicago, Illinois on February 27, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in June 1946 (c/n 3242), classed as 20-EP on the Milwaukee Road, and traded to EMD for new power in late 1968 or early 1969. Photos of trains at this location would not heve been possible a year earlier or a year after this photo date. Previously the tracks and platforms were covered with a trainshed completed in 1925. The shed was in the process of being removed to allow construction of glass and steel high rise office buildings to be built on the air rights over the tracks. |
