Climbing Out of Winton Tunnel  Contributor's Pick!       
Three units bring a westbound train out of the 4093' Winton Tunnel in June 1993. The train is about 35 miles out of Wenatchee and will be working on a 1% grade until Meritt, seven miles ahead, where it will steepen to 2.2% for the final seven-mile climb to Cascade Tunnel. GP50s 3114 and 3162 are followed by SD40-2 6813.
