Although this locomotive was the highest numbered E9 on the CB&Q's diesel roster, it was not the last one delivered. The Burlington placed it final passenger locomotive order in late 1955 for 10 more E9's, and since these units would not fit above 9995, they were numbered in a slot reserved for the FW&D, 9985A-B to 9989A-B. |
