BNSF 3422  Contributor's Pick!
Seattle is a vibrant city, alive with the buzz of industrial activity. Every time I visit, there are new opportunities to take action photos. Seattle is one of the few terminals on the BNSF where older EMD switch engines can be regularly found performing heavy switching tasks. In this shot, one of my favorite Interbay-based switchers, BNSF SW1500 3422, smokes it up as it pulls on a cut of double-stack cars at the South end of Stacy/Seattle Intermodal Gateway yards. To the left of the engine, a crew member checks his switch list. To the right is the landmark Starbucks Center clock tower. Looming at the top of the scene is the Seattle sky line accented by stereotypical PNW cloud-cover.

Richard Sessions General Great shot, Chris, both of the train and the city. 4/27/2010 2:14:57 PM
Gregg Bartley General What do you mean, "stereotypical PNW cloud cover?" Many times, it's just raining. Very nice photo! 4/27/2010 4:05:35 PM
Christopher Palmieri General Well, if it is raining, then there is cloud cover and there are many who say the sun never shines in Seattle....but I know better. And, thanks! 4/27/2010 4:11:18 PM
Jerry Sires General Those cloud filled days offer better opportunities to photograph subjects that might have been passed over by other due to maybe the sun being right in your face. Nice shot. 4/27/2010 7:32:58 PM
Jim Satterwhite General Yes, you got to love it. You should drop by the Mother Starbucks store as well after a fun filled day of railfanning. 4/29/2010 12:05:45 AM
