Is this the car that came from the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer?

Yes, it is. The original Norfolk Southern acquired it for use as a business car. It caught fire in the late 1940s and was sold to Atlantic and East Carolina, which left it in Morehead City for quite some time for use as a 'hotel' for VIPs.
