barbecued engine (CSX 5479)
Another GE toaster goes up in flames. This engine caught fire September 8, 2010 while pulling a coal train in Goochland County, Virginia. There is said to be 3 million dollars in damage here, which makes me wonder how much a brand new one costs. The fire was said to be caused by mechanical failure, which is nothing new for GE. This was seen at the CSX locomotive shops in Cumberland, Md. It was later put back into service.

Bryant Mills General It was about 1.8 million dollars new. Seems like it would require much more damage to come to $3 million. 10/15/2011 8:03:14 PM
