ATSF 5394 - Kaiser, Fontana, CA - 11/9/85
Santa Fe SD45 5394 was the first ATSF unit to wear the colors of the proposed Southern Pacific Santa Fe merger. The unit originally had white SF initials on the hood and nose, but they were later changed to yellow. There were also originally four stripes on the sides of the nose, and the red/black color break on the hood was also originally lower before being repainted to match the rest of the fleet (the red over the black on the hood is still visible). This engine began life as ATSF 5597.
