NS 5292
Sitting idle on this chilly, late winter's day, NS 5292 awaits Monday morning and its next assignment. Constructed by EMD in 1973 as Penn Central 8096, the unit kept that road number through its life on Conrail. Conveyed to NS in the Conrail split, the unit still shows its Big Blue heritage on this day but has since been repainted in NS black and white livery. Note the two patches on the nose, the sight of the locomotive's old marker lights that were removed after its acquisition by NS.
