| Union Pacific's Skyline Mine, Utah-Valmy,Nevada coal train rolls through Orem's Lakota Junction with two distributed power units on the rear. This location has sure changed in just the last decade. The former Denver & Rio Grande Western Mainline has been relocated from it's original alignment to make way for Utah Transit Authority's ''Front Runner'' Project scheduled to now open in 2014 on the Salt Lake City/Provo Corridor. Where the new front runner trackage sweeps off to the right was once occupied by UP's main three part of the original Provo-Salt Lake City Mainline. How this location got the name of ''Lakota'' is unknown. |
