A restoration in progress is this former US Army switcher, built in 1942 by Alco. Purchased by SMS in 2009 from the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, it is to be restored to active service to do what it was built to do, switch freight. The president of SMS as well as several employees were once workers on the NHIR and operated 9 on the ex-RDG branch, hence their decision to purchase and restore the historic engine. |
