| Drained, dead, and covered in sleet, a GATX Leasing Geep in Union Pacific colors stands in Davidson Yard awaiting a visit from the diesel mechanic. Ordered by Rock Island and delivered to Chicago & Northwestern as GP38-2 4609 in November 1979 in full CNW colors. After departing the UP roster this locomotive was picked up by GATX and rebuilt for long term lease to Union Pacific as 379 in full UP colors. After UP removed all leased power off the roster this locomotive rejoined the GATX fleet as GMTX 2309 but still in UP colors in July 2013. EMD delivered this Geep to CNW without dynamic braking but was added during rebuilding for Union Pacific. This locomotive is new to the database. |
