| CN local crosses the Fox River via a former C&NW bridge as it hauls 36 cars westward through the Flats in Appleton, WI on 2 Apr. '14. It is actually two bridges side-by-side, the former MILW is on the right, its rails were pulled years ago. Local was heading back to the yard at Appleton Junction after servicing Kimberly, Combined Locks and eastern Appleton. The Atlas Paper Co. mill is on the left. Completed in 1878, it ceased operation ca. 1999 and is now home to the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame and Paper Discovery Center. |
