| Delivered to Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific as SD40-2 4799 in December 1973 joining Illinois Central Gulf after the Rock folded as ICG 6049 then to EMD as EMDX 6049. This unit would later head north and become the first SD40-2 painted in full Wisconsin & Southern paint becoming WSOR 4001 where this EMD currently works today (as of 2014). In this photo 6049 is spending Christmas Day parked in Burlington Northern's North Yard in Fort Worth. |
