PRPX #23         
Built in 1948 by P-S in Lot #6790 to Plan #4122 as NYC 22RM sleeper #10442 GREAT PECONIC BAY, 1 of 45 such sleepers (#10400-#10444) built in that Lot; part of an order for 200 cars placed by NYC in December 1945; the 45 22RM sleepers were delivered between July and October 1948. In 1958-1959, NYC sold 23 of these cars to CN as #2052-#2074. The #10442 as #2063 VALJEAN. In 1973-1974, CN rebuilt 14 of these 23 cars to baggage-14RM dormitories #9475-#9488; the #2063 was rebuilt to #9477 in 1973. VIA retired the car in 1990 and sold it to a private owner, who stored the car at Mineral, WA. In 2003, the Pacific Railroad Preservation Association acquired the car, and in 2004 modified it to a tool car for use with the SP&S #700, retaining 2 of the roomettes.
