LNAC 4-4-0 #9 - Louisville, New Albany & Corydon  Contributor's Pick!
Rare photo of Louisville, New Albany and Corydon's 4-4-0 pulling a combination passenger/baggage car. The little loco survived on the very short Hoosier line until it was replace by the GE 45ton, "Betty Sue" in 1951. The little steamer was sold like its previous sister #5 to the Ferdinand RR where it worked until being replaced by another GE 45 ton #101 in February, 1953. It was eventually scrapped. If anyone knows the original builder of this loco, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Robert Farkas General This looks to be as simple a locomotive as could be found at that time - perfect for a less-than-rich short line. 6/12/2015 9:46:14 PM
