| Another online source contradicts the first explanation of this crash. It states from a worker at the scene - -"Reportedly not a dispatcher error. Word at the scene (from RDG wreck crew & engineering staff that I that I later worked with) was CNJ crew fell asleep and ran the red signal on their single iron out onto the LV at CP-Laurel Run. RDG staff assisted at scene due to mutual agreement with CNJ. CNJ crew was extremely fortunate to have survived as lead LV C628 climbed onto the CNJ RS frame. First cut of cars in LV were loaded ingot cars. CNJ train was reportedly shoved rearward several hundred feet upon impact.
