CEI 2-8-2 #1923 - Chicago & Eastern Illinois  Contributor's Pick!       
The engineer is leaning way out to see his string of cars in this unidentified yard. The locomotive is one of the 25 Mikadoes built by Alco-Brooks for the Chicago & Eastern Illinois. Specs - N-1 class, 63" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 300,000 lb, tractive effort of 55,533 lb. The class was retired between 1947-50. No date, location or photographer was given for this photo but since the tender is numbered instead of lettered, it is some time after the early 1940's.
