CNW 4-6-2 #1538 - Chicago & North Western  Contributor's Pick!
Beautiful action shot by an unknown photographer of Chicago & Noth Western 4-6-2 Pacific #1538 pulling into the passenger staton in Arlington Heights, IL. Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1910, this group of Pacifics (#1530-1540) were the only Es delivered with 23" diameter cylinders - both the North Western and Alco came to the same conclusion and adopted 25" cylinders beginnning with 1541. Later, CNW shops superheated the class. The date is approximate based on the parked autos near the station.
