| Northbound Coal. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Philip R. Hastings that was taken near Columbia Crossroads, Pennsylvania, on 5 May 1957. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4311, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S in November of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959. It's pulling a northbound coal train along with two PRR Diesel locomotives: #8626 and #8620. Both are AS-18M's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8626 was constructed in February of 1957, but #8620 was built in August of 1956. The slide's caption indicates that these three engines are, in effect, towing PRR I-1SA "Decapod" #4632 (the pusher engine) which has become disabled!
