UP 1458
After swapping cars at the South Dallas OxyChem plant, UP 1458 GP40-2 uses the BNSF main to return to home rails then Miller Yard. Electro-Motive built this locomotive for St. Louis Southwestern as SSW 7602 GP40 in February 1966, then was rebuilt as SSW 7961 GP40R in 1981 and paired to work with SP road slugs. On July 20, 2001, it was patched as UP 1458 and reclassified a GP40-2 by Union Pacific. Four years later while in a siding at Shepard, TX it was involved in a collision and reportedly scrapped on site but it apparently was rebuilt and returned to service in full UP dress.
