Scooting along  Contributor's Pick!
The Greenport Scoot, the connecting train that ran from Ronkonkoma to Greenport and back in the mid day, blows through Manorville in a hurry behind an MP 15, at least fast enough to blur the photo from an instamatic, as it hustles its single coach back for a New York connection. In the late 70s, the LIRR discontinued its bus service on the east end, reinstating trains on all the off peak Greenport and Montauk runs the buses had supplanted. This was the happy result. I missed the good stuff by about a year, though. Up til spring 1977, this run was handled by an RS 3.
