BO 2-8-2 #4559  Contributor's Pick!
Thanks to Chuck Zeiler for correctly identifying this renumbered and relabeled locomotive at the Huntington Heritage Museum. Originally built for Toledo Angola & Western as their #100, this 1924 Alco-Schenectady 2-8-2 Mikado was later sold to Elk River Coal & Lumber as their #10 and eventually donated to the emerging Huntington Heritage Museum in 1963. A note on the back states "On display at the old B&O station known as Heritage Village". While at Huntington, it was preserved and renumbered as B&O 4559, in honor of a loco that used to serve the town. Original specs - 50" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 202,000 lb, tractive effort of 41,469 lb. Edward H. Weber photo
