PRR 8661, AS-18AM, 1960         
Sweetland. Here is duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by David R. Sweetland that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in October of 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8661, #5841, and two more E-7's whose numbers are not recorded. #8661 is an AS-18AM built by the American Locomotive Company in January of 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. #5841 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They are pulling a passenger train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve, and are about to pass through one of the tunnels at Gallitzin on their way to Pittsburgh and points West. Visible in the foreground is the westbound connecting track to the New Portage Branch.
