C&O 2-8-4 #1225 - ex-PM
Here is the now famous Pere Marquette 2-8-4 #1225 of Polar Express fame before its rebirth. Built by Lima in October of 1941 as Pere Marquette #1225, it eventually ended up on the C&O steam roster in 1947 merger. From there, the loco's history takes many dramatic turns eventually ending up as the famous Christmas train. These slides appear to be an unusual study in the parts of this loco while on display at the Michigan State University before it was restored. The date is an approximation.
