| In the background, a CN local sets out a string of cars at the former C&NW yard at Appleton Junction, WI on 7 Jul. '19. After finishing here, local headed for Little Chute and Kaukauna. In the foreground, the former C&NW freight house stands at right. Measuring 20 x 60, it was completed in Sep. 1958 along what was originally the MLS&W main line (which ran parallel to the southwest side of the building). It seems rather small for a freight house, but I presume it was designed to supplement, not replace, the much larger freight house near downtown Appleton. The northeast leg of the wye runs along this side of the building. |
