SP (T&NO) 2-6-0 491
Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) Mogul 491 was parked at the railroad’s Algiers Shops, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. This loco was one of 15 2-6-0s built by Baldwin in 1909 for the Cananea, Rio Yaqui y Pacifico in Mexico as their 515-529. In 1912, this railroad became the Sud Pacifico de Mexico and three of these locomotives passed on to the SPdeM, while six went to the Arizona Eastern and six to the Houston & Texas Central. The 491 was built as CRYyP 517, became H&TC 560 in 1912, then T&NO 560 in 1934 and was renumbered T&NO 491 on 15 May 1950. The loco shows some evidence of its recent renumbering, and it was the last of this group to be retired. It was scrapped at Houston on 26 October 1953.
