CRI&P 111 on West Leads to St. Paul Union Station  Contributor's Pick!
The head house is still standing in very good shape with restaurants in it. The waiting room over the tracks was closed off a few years ago when I visited the station. The Mississippi River is just to the right of the photo and the two right tracks are all that remain. Amtrak's Empire Builder uses them but does not stop. Most of the land here, under the station, and the yards beyond is now used for parking. David Cenci General Wow..a LOT has changes. NOTE..pic is from Robert Street overpass. The track that is crossing over the right 2 main tracks leads to the CGW(CNW) Robert St lift bridge (now UP). The tan/yellow building is the post office, no tracks go into the depot now, and the platform area is now used by local trucking firms. 5/17/2007 2:19:33 PM
Marty Bernard General David, thanks for the update. 5/17/2007 4:52:14 PM

TJ Gaspers General Well, its starting to look that way again! The post office moved out, the new platforms are poured, the track is laid, the concourse and waiting room totally restored. 3 tracks go under the building again! Scheduled to reopen January 2013! 9/10/2012 4:32:43 PM
Robert Anderson General Tim. they were going to electrfy all those switches, but so many movemnents have to clear the limits of an electrical circuit it was deemed to slow whereas the wheels only have to clear the points in a conventional move. Time and motion study was done. they built the control building but didn't use it.Stayed boared up for years. There was a union aspect to this story. 4/17/2018 11:35:54 PM
