Busted Oil Pan
You might wonder what this has to do with trains. Well, nothing, except for the fat that it happened while chasing the BNSF 2978 West using the old Milwaukee ROW. We had found some rough spots along the way, and took it easy, and were still able to catch up to the train. The ROW condition improved greatly so I upped the speed a bit. We were looking around and did not notice a small wash that had developed across the ROW. By the time we noticed it, there was nothing I could do but slam the brakes on and hope we got slowed down enough to make it over safely. We slammed down into it at probably 20 MPH, causing this nice hole in my oil pan. We were able to get the car off the ROW and to I-90 with an extra bottle of oil I happened to have. This pretty much wraps up our adventures on the 30th!
