Tony Fernandez	General	It is a GP38-2, the former Southern #2812 (and NS #2812), built Mar 1970. Since the builder's date precedes the start of Dash-2 production by at least two years, I'd say that this was originally a GP38 (note the radiator screens and the air filter box) that was upgraded to Dash-2 configuration at some time during its life; most likely when refurbished for lease service.	4/25/2008 11:20:22 AM

Tony Fernandez	General	Checking further, I discovered that it was built as a GP38; rebuilt to GP38-2 specs by VMV Enterprises, Paducah, KY, and originally leased to the UP as #2425 in 1997. It was retired by UP in Oct 2003, but reinstated Feb 2004.	4/25/2008 11:28:58 AM
