Eastbound Mixed Freight. (Ex-BN Bicentennial 1876)
1916 was built in 1972 for the Burlington Northern. Not painted orange until sometime around 2016. Also, at one time, it was BN 1876, with patriotic paint for the US bicentennial http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5047900
1916 is a remote control unit!
This unit, though it doesnt look it, was once upon a time, BN 1876, the bicentennial locomotive. MTM has asked BNSF to donate this locomotive for that reason, but since BNSF is currently using it, it may take a while
BNSF these days have been dominated by GEs, so when a train with all EMD power (six units in total) showed up, it was a big deal!
Another grab shot off the highway, kinda wish i stopped for this one since he was stopped.
This gondola looked like something on a model railroad. It was the first car behind the all-ex-BN motive power on this eastbound freight that red signals halted this day.
God bless the BNSF for how they have taken their time in repainting ex-BN units. The result is sights like this veteran BN lashup on an eastbound freight stopped by a red signal in Long Lake, MN. The dispatcher held them here for a couple hours, and then let the crew go ahead.
The crew aboard this eastbound general freight the dispatcher tagged with a red signal in Long Lake have veteran ex-BN motive power at their disposal, and ones in the "whiteface" scheme at that!
Man, it has been a while since I bagged some ex-BN units still wearing ex-BN paint in Long Lake! These three six-axle gems were on the point of an eastbound freight stopped by red signals. Dig those loads of scrap in the two gondolas behind them!
First shot this in Galesburg, IL in Sep 2009, guess if I hang out long enough every unit comes to NTW
