Q410
8073 built 12/79....2793 ex SP 9099 built 4/69
Built April 1969 as SP 9099.
Built December 1979 as BN 8073.
A long Q410 powers north through Park at 0812 with seven engines up front.
Q485 at Bridges street 16:07 hrs.
I did not know CSX was back in the leasing business! Is there that much traffic?
Second & third units on second Q410.
Q645, departing Barr Yard for Nashville, passes Q369.
And that's about as far as the train goes. The rear end is up to the limit of track at U St at this point. Despite the seemingly rural setting, we are in the middle of Bedford at this point. Through the trees on the left is a Pizza Hut
I just love the perspective of this shot. The line is in a deep cutting at this point.
I hope the City can find a new use for this beautiful route, a nature trail / cycleway would be my suggestion.
Is it legal to stop on a State Route for the purposes of hanging over the parapet with a camera? Probably . . . . . . Oops!
Toy trains pass underneath
It's taken about two and a half hours to get to this point, the last grade crossing before Bedford
You can see the serious gradients of the Bedford - Crane route in this long-shot. What a shame the rail is needed elsewhere, this would have made a great tourist line.
2793 eases over a beautiful woodland crossing
Suddenly there's a gap in the woods and a perfect photo op presents itself. Shame about the sun.
With sun in the right direction, this short cutting is one of the best locations on the route. Unfortunatly, on this day it was murky with the sun in the wrong direction
There is a beautiful bend in the river at this spot. hence the boat
Kicking up dust from the crossings that havn't seen a train for weeks
A pretty little hamlet is Cale, but not many tourists here.
Plan is to reverse the train 18 miles from Crane to Bedford
A SD40/GP38 combo head up the rear
