Here is an original 35mm color slide of Strasburg Rail Road's #1, an 0-4-0 HL-20 locomotive built by Plymouth in October of 1926. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded.

Strasburg Rail Road engine #31 is an 0-6-0 shifter built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1908. According to Gary Everhart, "it has worn several numbers through the years": originally it was Grand Trunk Western's #1708; then Canadian National's #7157 circa 1923, renumbered CN #7240 in 1952, and renumbered CN #7312 in 1957; then purchased, reconditioned, and renumbered SRC #31 in 1960 ~ some 52 years after it first hit the rails! Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1223 is a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata as a D-16B during 1905, rebuilt as a D-16SB, sold to the Strasburg Rail Road in October of 1960, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.

The sun rises on another day at the Strasburg Railroad to find N&W 475 being prepped for the day's trains, including a freight run, among the various projects and other equipment stored behind the backshop.
Newly painted, gas powered Plymouth switcher working for Strasburgs's heritage weekend.
Its easy to forget that the Strasburg is still a Class 3 shoptline, hauling freight. On my one visit there, I managed to catch a freigth move, switching out plastic pellet hoppers. What you can't see is the SRC GE 44 tonner is actually pxshing at the rear, and old #1 is being used as a switching platform by the conductor.
