An E&LS (or ELS) train rests on former MILW rails at Brown Rd., Little Suamico, WI, on 26 Jul. '24. It is always a treat to watch a former MILW locomotive plying former MILW rails. This line was laid by the M&N in 1881.

ELS 501 rests in the former MILW yard at Crivitz (originally Ellis Junction), WI, on 12 Apr. '24. It is always a treat to watch a former MILW locomotive plying former MILW rails. Thor's Wolverine Den, 423 Hall Ave., stands to the right. It has been that since at least winter of 2020/spring of 2021. When I photographed it in 2013, it was V&V Trackside Saloon. Given its size and location, I have to wonder if it was a hotel when it was built.

For some reason, I skipped over this nice frame-filling look at the former MILW 22 when I was initially uploading my pictures from this day nearly 15 years ago.
An E&LS train crosses Cornell Rd. as it heads west through the Howard Industrial Park via CN rails at Howard, WI, on 18 Mar. '22. I'm not sure who laid these rails, which connect the former MILW main line to the former C&NW main line on opposite sides of Howard Industrial Park. I believe these rails were laid sometime after 1982.
An E&LS train departs the northwest end of the CN, former C&NW, yard at North Green Bay, WI, on 18 Mar. '22.
I am pretty sure this is number 501. If so, it was built in 1973 as #22 on the Milwaukee Road! Still serving on old Milwaukee Road tracks--this is now the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad.
An E&LS train slows to halt at Carbis Rd. as it heads northwest via former MILW rails at Randville, MI, on 23 Jul. '21. It is a treat to encounter a former MILW locomotive plying former MILW rails.

An E&LS train, with an amicable crew, passes the former MILW depot as it heads north with 17 cars at Iron Mountain, MI, on 23 Jul. '21. The depot was built in 1914 (at a cost of about $25,000), to replace the original, ca. 1886 wooden depot. It is a rare thrill to encounter a former MILW locomotive plying former MILW rails.
An E&LS train coughs a bit of smoke as it approaches the junction with the CN, former SOO, rails as it heads northeast with 16 cars via former MILW rails at Pembine, WI, on 23 Jul. '21. The ca. 1887 union depot would have obscured this view of the train, until it was wantonly destroyed by arson perpetrated by juvenile miscreants on 17 Jun. 2019.
ELS 402 and ELS 501 are parked along US Hwy 141 just south of Chicken Shack Rd near Oconto, WI.
An E&LS train passes Spur St. as it shoves a cut of cars along south leg of the wye at the former MILW yard at Crivitz (originally Ellis Junction), WI, on 27 Nov. '20. This is the south leg of the wye which is the northwestern terminus of the former M&N Menominee Branch.
An E&LS train shoves a cut of cars past the former MILW depot, 414 Hall Ave., Crivitz (originally Ellis Junction), WI, on 27 Nov. '20. This is the south leg of the wye which is the northwestern terminus of the former M&N Menominee Branch. I am nearly certain that this is the depot built by the M&N when the line was laid in 1883 (I haven't found any indication that the original depot was replaced). This is the southern corner of the large wye formed by the main line running north-south, in front of the depot, and the branch running southeastward to Menominee, MI, behind the depot.

An E&LS train parallels Main St. (originally E. Railroad St.)/Hwy. 141 and approaches Monroe St. as it pulls 32 cars south via former MILW rails at Wausaukee, WI, on 27 Nov. '20. The interesting, old, white building partially visible beyond the first bulkhead flatcar is the historic Hotel Wausaukee, 502 Main St. Erected in 1889, many Milwaukee & Northern (M&N), later MILW, passengers undoubtedly stayed there. Extensively altered over the years, it is currently home to Graphic Impressions Photography. Some interesting information regarding the structure's history can be found at: http://www.hotelwausaukee.com/. An ice house once stood between the locomotive and Main St./Hwy. 141. There used to be a conjoined depot and freight house here, west of the rails south of Monroe St., out-of-frame to the right. I was thrilled to encounter a former MILW locomotive plying former MILW rails. A much better view of this scene can be found at: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5431528.
An E&LS train crosses Amberg Rd. as it pulls 32 cars southeast via former MILW rails at Amberg (originally Pike), WI, on 27 Nov. '20. The train is passing Mathis Hardware & Lumber, Inc., W7960 Amberg St. The business dates to Dec. of 1946, when James D. Mathis established a hardware and feed store here. The company is currently owned and managed by his son and grandson. The facility used to receive rail service, but it doesn't look like it has for quite a while. When I was here in '14, there was still a spur hidden in the grass next to the facility. I forgot to look to see if it was still there today. The depot stood east (right) of the tracks, between Coleman Ave. and Amberg Rd., closer to the former. It has been moved to Amberg Museum Complex about 2 1/2 blocks southwest of its original location and 180 degrees to its original orientation. I was thrilled to encounter a former MILW locomotive plying former MILW rails.

A northbound E&LS train, with about a dozen cars, was parked on former MILW rails at Stiles Junction, WI on 11 Apr. '15. The pathetic remains of the once neat, old depot are partially visible on the right.
A northbound E&LS train parked on former MILW rails at Hwy. P at Beaver, WI on 20 Sep. '14. Train had two locomotives, ELS 501 and ILSX 1338. There used to be a siding here aod a large, old foundation is partially visible on the right. It might be the remains of one of two potato warehouses built in the early 1900s. The Beaver depot was closed in 1931 and was razed in 1952, not sure which side of the tracks it was on or which side of Hwy. P.
