Manifest train 260 at Red Wing.
CPKC train 260.
A view of the head end of the grain train passing a hay barn and pastureland north of Westville.
The grain train snakes through the curve as it comes out and rolls toward Westville.
The grain train rolls through the S curve at Chewie Road, to the chagrin of a local motorist who didnt expect a train, judging by the hard stop as he pulled up to the tracks.
The H train has cleared the south end of the siding, and the grain train resumes his trip south.
When we passed signal 238-2, south of Watts, it was showing approach, meaning the H train would take the siding at Watts. I initially thought theyd be working there(they would). As we came around the curve into Watts, we got a surprise, this southbound grain train waiting on the main for the H train to clear. The crew is out, rolling the H train by as he goes into the siding.

We don't get much snow here, most years less than a foot for the whole season. The week before I got this show of Q KCNL passing the cemetery at CP Flint Creek we had around 10", and it was cold, down to -12 three nights earlier. The up side was, when the trains ran, it made for a good photo. A four unit set rolls south with 66 freight, a DPU, followed by 16 two unit auto racks, and 15 stack platforms.
Southbound Q KCNL passes Decatur station and the stuffed and mounted F 7 there two days after a 5" snowfall, unusual for Arkansas. At least today its above freezing!!
The sun was not in my favor for this northbound empty grain train, but the light was good for the going away shot, at the Ark 59S crossing north of downtown.
I had followed this northbound empty grain train up from Siloam, but traffic-seems to be a lot of it these days, pandemic or not-got the better of me, and I was not able to set up. Still was able to get a grab shot from the car. Oh well....
