The I 181 rolls north along MO 59 approaching Anderson, catching the last spot of sun along the route as it rolls out of the shadow of a ridge west of the line. This was a spirited chase. Two units had 37 stack platforms, 20 autos, and 6 articulated racks, and made good time. I didn't beat him here by much; note the railfan chase vehicle hastily parked on the shoulder!!

A little more hustle out of Noel, and I was able to get ahead of the I 181 far enough to beat it to this shot on the Elk river bridge, and get turned around before the train showed.

CP ES44AC 8863 brings a loaded sulphur train past Lake City on the BNSF New Westminster Subdivision. The signal tower in the photo is no longer in use, as a highway overpass a couple hundred feet north of it obstructed the line of sight for train crews. The new signal&for Lake City is now directly north of the overpass.
