21 April 2017 saw the last day of London Underground's District Line D78 stock in service. I was involved with their gauging at Metro-Cammell's factory in 1979, and spent 12 of my 35 years on London Transport / London Underground career based at Upminster Depot working with these trains. This is my photo tribute to them after 37 years of passenger service. Over 200 cars are currently stored at Vivarail's works in Long Marston for conversion to Class 230 units for eventual use with various Train Operating Companies.
