This album has the Minnesota Commercial, Union Pacific, and the Wisconsin Centrals transfer.
The Belt Job runs with a single B23-7 on this beautiful June day.
Im pretty sure this engine is a SD40-3, but it goes along with the old GTW numbering system. The WC transfer runs today with no WC power, which sadly is much more often then running WITH WC power.
GTW 5945,an SD40-3, runs in the scenic section of this line (Cardigan Jct-New Brighton) with 2 CN units in tow.
About 3:15 in the morning, Ed Patten sits waiting for the switch to shove back to his train.
Hood doors open, leaving 16 cylinders some air to breath, cool air at that. For yummer, 68 degrees is rather cold.
48 eases the Belt+job oqt of the yard with a nice sized train.
Charlie McDade is in for another long day. At 12:45 he is just getting ready to go to Northtown. Usually they are all done at this time.
Doing what i love to do........Railfan in the morning. MNNR 55 shoves back to get the cars that the WC dropped off.
Guess the CN 5724 has a fancy of being the one in all of my cool shots! Heres the WC ready for Humboldt, when most of you were probably still sleeping.
My first SD45 sighting since the 8th of May. And this unit is a very special one at that. Leader is another one of a kind unit, the 2500, an SD35.
Charlie McDade runs an all WC consist (well, on paper atleast) over I35W, on his way into the MNNR's yard. Nice to see maroon and gold again.
Besides the 3rd unit and the truck on the highway, this may as well be 2001, and still a WC train.
The same consist back again! This was probably the best consist down here in months.
Finally a good roster shot of my beloved SD45.
One of my many bridge shots in this album, but this one had good sun. Gotta love the WC!
With the sloppily patched Gec Alsthom shining through in its true colors, WC 6948 sits with 2 other units of SD40 variants.
Alas, it finally comes down leading! Sadly, it just HAD to be cloudy this day. Oh well, hope it makes a return on friday.
On the mainline now as Ed has a good roll on em. You've got to charish anytime you see an SD45 leading.
Another sunrise shot. This time with some nice power, SP 319 leads an EMD SD90MAC with 115 empties.
The old GE spits smoke as the other elder sits idle.
Three units drag a cut out of the MNNR's yard.
With there being heavy work on the diamond, a number of odd moves took place today. Those UP units once the led the coal empty, now the WC transfer power is pulling the empty down into the yard, and after that, the UP power will rejoin the train to take it to South St. Paul.
CPs section crews are taking a break from the diamond while the transfer power goes back to its train.
A nice change from the grey SD40-3s (speak of the devil, we have one leading) that have infiltrated New Brighton. But its better than anything painted CN!
A pair of spartan cabs are pouring out a nice mist of grey smoke as they pull their MNNR cut out of the yard.
Easily the best out of the consist, WC 3009 rolls along side of a SOO Line built in Fon Du Lac boxcar, a place where 3009 has been many times before.
A great leader! Glad to see a 4 axle down here again!
Another ex KCS SD40-3 down at New Brighton. These seem to be everywhere lately.
If only ever IC ive seen lately was a WC..... Still im happy to see this.
The 3384, with brand new yellow striping, sits with 3 other units uncrewed at the MNNR yard.
A great consist, and a rare number of units at that, but the best part was the leader!
WC 3006 leads 3 other units across I35W. Four units on the Mineapolis Sub is pretty rare, and the first two arent common power down here.
The first meeting ive had with this little beauty! I felt really lucky to actually get what ive been wanting for months!
Three SD40-2s crawl at about 5 miles an hour while ballasting the mainline through New Brighton.
I went half the summer, and only one SD45 to show for it. Now, in 2 days ive had 2! I cant tell you how fast my jaw dropped when i saw this on the wye!
My favorite locomotive, the SD45, has finally came my way! What a great surprise!
Another roster shot of the antique at New Brighton.
A much better shot than last time, this time it has sun!
The all "WC" consist, literal thinking, rolls onto the main.
The 4 L's! Long Live Lovely Leaders!
Four units on R916, not seen much anymore. Not seen much anymore is also the legions of SD45s what used to lead many WC frieghts!
A WC coal empty shoves back to the Depot with a SD9043MAC leading.
And on the 8th day, god created SD45s! Gotta love em'!
A pair of old GEs idle in the yard waiting for the WC to clear the diamond.
Let me tell you, when I pulled into the parking lot, I couldnt believe my eyes! Three WC units, all different models, were the power! Getting closer and closer to the extinction of WC SD45s, I was happy to see it found a spot in the consist!
Only 2 74XXs left, and I catch it with good company!
Not THEE best lighting, but looking at the consist, I feel grateful to have them down here at all!
