Early morning finds the 3985 and train departing Vincennes, IN on its way back to St. Louis after masquerading as a Clinchfield engine for the CSX Santa Train. We just about froze to death getting this shot!
Talk about a once in a lifetime shot! We rode the Cuyahoga Valley rr behind no 15 and we sap the steam engine resting between excursions so we went down to photograph it. Lo and behold, our own excursion loco unexpectedly show up. On top of that my lunch bill turned out to be '5.87 and my friends was $8.44! What are the odds of that?

The excursion train departs Calico Rock for points south. Due to high insurance costs, the tourist RR was shut down. I do not know if it was revived.

Back in Dillsboro, we begged and pleaded for a cab ride at the Great Smoky Mountain RR. Alas, there was no room in the cab so they put us up in the tender complete with a padded bench! It was one of the most memorable steam rides I ever had.
