The last trains to TVA Gallatin ran in 1997 due to complaints from the city about the coal trains blocking several major streets in town (the trains had to use the old Scottsville/Hartsville branch to reach the TVA spur). Coal is now barged to the facility and the TVA spur is out of service past the Airport Rd. crossing. Month and day are not approximate.
TVA brought its "Baby Trainmaster" out to display at the "Spirit of Tennessee" Bicentennial Train's stop at Gallatin during the summer of 1996. The locomotive is still stored at the Gallatin Steam Plant, but rail shipments to the facility have not occurred since 1997.
