BQ23-7s, 10 were buklt for the SCL in 1978 and delivered in Family Lines paint. This was an early attempt to have cabooseless trains.
Former Atlanta & West Point GP40 in an early CSX paint job and sublettered "SBD".
This is my very first photo shot of an B&O unit. Heading eastbound on its once home rails.
CSX ex-SCL U18B. You can still make out "SEABOARD COAST LINE" on the longhood with "CSX" painted on the nose.
CSX 2144 still in L&N grey was a local at Manchester at this time.
CSX 2556 began life on the Durham & Southern then megered into SCL and became SCL 556.
CSX 2637 originally in grey/blue scheme and her with yellow added minus the "CSX" on the nose.
This an real oldie. This unit began life on the Monon. The U23Bs were the newest units on the Monon before the merger with the L&N. The units were repainted L&N and then Family Lines to SBD. Some eventually wore CSX colors.
In bad need of a paint job, 7037 heads north on the former Western Ry of Alabama main and crossing NS' ex-SOU nee-CofGA main.

There are two gone in this photo today, CSX 6755 and the iron bridge that had been torn down in the last year.
On a cold but sunny day 1979 poses for us.
4201 was being used as the local at Manchehter, GA. On the longhood you can make out "CH" in Chesapeake.
