One of just a few non dash two GP40 to get the YN2 paint scheme.
CSXT 7027 displays the YN1 (yellow nose) scheme.
The former California Western RS11 is seen in transit to Martin Marietta's quarry located in Junction City Ga. The unit was built for SP.
CSXT 7044 was in a blue and gray scheme and the yellow nose was applied after cqmplaints of visibilty issues. The blue and gray scheme worn by the 7044 had blue trucks and fuel tank.
A group of former L&N SD40-2s were selected to replace worn out SD40s in hump service. They were placed in tthe 2400s and a freshly rebuilt 2434 stands it's turn to duty in the new role. They were mated to Yard Mates that were pared with GP39s and GP38-2s. The "slugs" are fromer Chessie units rebuilt from cut down GP9s.
The 312 was still working when this photo was taken and also was in operation as the photo was took.
Shown here not long after being rebuilt from wreck damage.
This unit did not last long in service be for it was retired and set a side.
Note where front steps were added so that a trainman could gain accsess to the front walk way. A group of these units came from Amtrak in exchange for CF7s which Amtrak used for MofW service and Santa Fe added extra ballast to the SDPs for freight service. What a catch this was on CSX in Georgia. To bad it did not lead.
