The far left side of the building was Amtrak depot for the Sunset Limited from April 1993 to August 2006 (Katrina). The center part was renovated in 1999, and was reopened in early 2000. The 2 story wing addition, which was built at a later date, was renovated earlier by the city and host a couple of non-profit organizations.
This train came very late with passengers on board, 2 engines and a bagage car. The baggage car (visible behind the end of the train) had a bad bearing and was dropped off in B yard using the wye. While coming back on the mainline, the 2nd engine dropped a wheel on the ground. After all that, it was too late for the passengers to connect with the train to Miami, so the charter buses picked up the passengers. Then the crew was on the law, so a crew from jacksonville was brought in by van. The train left Tallahassee 10 hours bekind schedule.
Probably the first "Shamu" on this train; going by the grain elevator.
