New to the Northwest - having arrived at NAS Whidbey Island only two months prior - and plenty of opportunities for photos of first-generation power.
Back during the good old days when one could walk freely in most major rail yards and engine facilities...Built as BN 6325, to BN 1876 (2nd), BN 1976:2, BN 6325 and BNSF 6397.
Two days after Christmas in St Louis and its definitely cold and gray. In other words, a perfect day for rail photography.
Cold day in St Louis...
Ex-NP 365, reportedly wrecked in 1989 and scrapped.
Southbound for SoCal but I still had the time for some photography in Kelso, resulting in this photo of a brace of SD40-2s.
Rather#heavy power for switching duty...
New Year's Eve on the former NP Prairie Line, looking west.
BN GP38-2 2324 (ex-SLSF 469) and SD40-2 6328 trundle past the former Santa Fe depot. Fortunately, over the intervening years it's been restored and opened as the Santa Fe Depot Craft Mall
Was out patrolling the remnants of the Oklahoma City-Ada-Atoka when I stumbled across ex-SLSF 469 at the Ada depot

Westbound at Arrowhead Junction, in and around local, er, scenery
Westbound and cleared for Elsberry.
End of the day in Bellingham and one of the local Geeps is parked with caboose 12432
BNSF GP39M sits alongside Bellingham's small but classy former Great Northern depot.
Heading back to the lessor: a large number of former CN, former BNSF 7300-series SD40-2s parked out back of a warehouse/intermodal fac in Valley Park adjacent to the former Chrfsler plant.
The units are parked behind a warehouse near the former Chrysler Fenton plant. From the left, former CN SD40s 5019, 5027 and 5063.
Long line of ex-CN/BNSF-leased SD40-2s. The former Chrysler Fenton plant's visible in the background.

Quite a day: GP38-2 2084 leads a MOW train out to the Sumas Branch while GP40X 3034, leading the Anacortes Local, gets ready to depart on the right.
The Anacortes Local definately had a unique lineup this day; I'd have to do some digging to determine the last time I saw a B unit.
Not a lot happening in Butte this Sunday morning. Cab 12389 in the background.
Looking for GE power? Lineup of C44-9Ws in Aberdeen, SD
