Shots starting for my trip Denver in January 2010. "NYard" aka North Yard.
Currently on Snow Bus duty.
Looking down from the overpass the heads over the yard. The MAC's behind the UP 8221 were picked up the night before off the failed 09-10 Ski Train, so PV's could be moved onto Amtrak #6 to head back east.
The current power for the Snow Bus stationed out of NYard, and 2 SLRG units which were taken out of Union Station the night before.
Only the night before taken off the failed 09-10 Ski Train, preparing to be shipped back to home rails.
Snow Bus Duty, hence the caboose
Snow Bus Duty, hence the caboose.
Lease unit mixed in with some UP power.
Unfortunatly you only have one chance to get a shot like this right, and I blew mine! Took to long to finally snap off the shot, hence the UP 7082 with is bottem-front cut off.
Trailing in the lead power on an empty coal.
Not great quality thanks to zoom and the heat from the surronding units, but hey, enjoy these SP's while they last.
Stumped upon this old relic while driving around the yard. Was being towed.
We return to Nyard for the last time, after a small snow fall came the night before. While I was strolling up the overpass for some more shots, this local quickly pulled out of the yard. Once again...I hit the butten just a little too late to get that shot just right.
Still looking great in SP colors, even if it is patched. This unit has to have the best (still dark red, barely fading) "bloody-nose" I've seen for many years.
With a very small amount of power now at Nyard compared to a quick visit only a few days before, things really can change!
Now with atleast an inch sitting on its cab top, 1989 waits for a call that would never come, and soon would loose its job on the Snow Bus.
The remote controlled yard job pulls out from behind the UP 1989.
Enjoying at least a couple more weeks of Snow Bus Duty.
A lease unit, the UPY 661 which wuld later become busy in switching remote controlled, and the UP 1989 on Snow Bus Duty. Note the back end of a spreader in the backround.
SP 144, HLCX 3810, and the UPY 661
Snow Bus Duty
The tower and the current Snow Bus set.
Mechanical forces look over the SP 144, one of the few unpatched SP's still out there
However, up to the sign was as far as I dared go into the yard, with security crawling all over the place.
You can tell its been there for quite some time, checkout the track its resting on...
The Ex-SP 144, still not patched yet, however, is seen being looked over at the sand racks.
Yup...still not patched!
Just couldn't stop enjoying the great lighting there was to be had.
The yard job moves aound slowly remote controlled.
UPY 661 and UPY 586
The SLRG/RPCX 511 is seen being shuffled by the yard job, after it was taken out of Union Station. This was done after the car was unable to participate in the 09-10 Ski Train, which had to have is season cancelled due to Amtrak.
A dome of the San Luis Rio Gradne.
The lone member of the yard job is seen walking down to the other end of things, preparing to make the move to have the cars shove back.
This would be the last time I would see the SLRG/RPCX 511 dome in Denver.
