These SR SOM hoppers were in and out of this little receiving yard throughout 2008. Photo taken next to a coal fired electric generating facility at Milliken Station Rd. (photo date is not exact)
Just before sundown; these engines left some loaded salt hoppers near Meyers Park about a half an hour ago, and are probably here to haul away some empty coal hoppers.
After working at Cargill's salt mine....the train is northbound for a siding where they will leave these loaded salt hoppers and then continue north to work at the AES facility. From AES they'll head back south with some empty coal hoppers and the loaded salt cars to Ithaca, NY.
I was happy to get the thumbs-up from these guys as they pulled loaded coal hoppers into the AES facility. (date is an approximation)
I'm sorry I can't tell ya what model & make this locomotive is; I'm not sure. Pulling loaded coal hoppers into AES. (date is an approximation)
Rolling over the Salmon Creek inlet to Cayuga Lake. The train is rolling downgrade here and holding back the weight of loaded salt hoppers. (I failed to get the unit# of the middle locomotive)
This engine set was tied-down on the siding here this afternoon just north of the Cargill salt mine.
NS recently delivered a coal drag to the Upstate New York Power Producers at Cayuga Lake and the red "in-house" workhorse is shoving some loads in where they'll be dumped.
With just enough time to spare while on the job, I managed to catch this engine shoving coal loads into the power generating facility on the east shore of Cayuga Lake this afternoon.
