This album contains pictures taken while the WC is battling the highline, heading to interchanges, and coming up Shoreham Hill.
Tractive Effort is the key here, and they are sure trying to make it work.
Pouring it on. But, they still have to pick up cars at Central, so once the rear clears the switch, back they go.
"Im in the clear, take em ahead." "roger", this is after the made the joint at Central Ave, the gates come down at Johnson Street.
With the GLB at Johnson Street ( Gates, Lights , Bells ) they continue on the steep grade coming off the High Line.
One of 4 nicest engineers on the CN in my opinion, Steve Anderson gives a friendly wave as he crosses Johnson St.
Not moving, as CP has the loop and the east main tied up. They arent on the hill yet, but once they start the roll on them, they will be.
The day after thanksgiving with a train, it would only be better if we had WC.
Still in IC paint, this SD40-3 trails the WC transfer today.
With power pooling so common these days, doesnt surprise me to see a BNSF Dash 9 leading the WC out of NorthTown.
Woofta, been a while since ive added to this album. WC 6590 along with sister 6591 and an IC SD40-2 throttle up past Johnson St.
Not on the hill, not even close yet, but once they leave they will climb the hill to get their cars to head to NorthTown.
WC 3007, with WC 6905 and WC 6004, climbs the hill past the Centrbl Ave interlocking.
Just starting out on the hill on the High Line. They will be taking 72 cars up the hill shortly.
A look at the stacks leading through the quiet Northeast neighborhood early in the morning.
Finally a real hill shot. 3 units in notch 8 crest the top of the hill.
An SD70M leads a SD50F towards Central Ave. WC has been, to say the least, sparce.
This train marks my 300th shot on rrpicturearchives.net. Thanks Tim!
All I can say, is that this specific lashup was freakin awesome comin up the hill. Not quite as good as 3 SD45s, but it got close. Boy did they put on a smoke show.
Only 2 units, but thats all Charlie needed today. A pretty cool consist, considering this IS the CN.
Two SD40-3s wake the Northeast neighborhood early on the 4th of July.
No WC power today, but a good leader no less, as Ed pulls on the throttle going up the High Line.
A shot ive been wanting to get forever! GTW 5942 leads two other counterparts as it climbs the High Line.
Another shot of the transfer. Love those artsy shots!
2 GCFX units on one train! Ahh, who cares, look whats in the back!
Coming into what used to be a yard, 7522 leads 2 Grey GCFX -3s with the BNSF cut for Northtown.
A black/white version, of the WC 7522 sneaking through Shoreham yard.
I would have liked more zoom to make this a better shot, but i still feel it turned out fine. Anyway, the 6901 grinds up the hill with WC 7527 and the WC 6934.
I wont bore you with anymore roster shots of the 7527. So 3 units run light up the hill to fetch there Northtown cars.
Back again, and with 3 sister, it rolls up the hill light to pick up the Northtown cars. Love these WC consists!
Or what would have baen years ago, this is actually the R916 job running VERY late.
Charlie McDade heads to Humboldt to make the interchange with CP.
Running lite to their BN cars at Stinson Blvd.
As the conductors nap, 6916 idles with a C44-9W at 37th & Stinson.
The CSX 8879 back acain on the transfer. This is yet another day with 2 transfers, this one being the Northtown train.
CN 5316 heads the#WC R916 job with two other EMD products towards Humboldt.
Just a pair of SD40-3s, but the sound was still as good as, oh maybe, a pair of SD45s.
Charlie McDade notches down just before he enters New Brighton.
A solid lashup of CN motors roll up on the High Line with the Humboldt cars in tow, ready for Northtown.
Steve brings the CP cut up to New Brighton.
Now heading to Northtown with the IC 6129 leading, Steve brings the train around the bend at Johnson Sq.
CN heritage showing even more on this unit.... Notice the plow.
Steve Anderson has the light to Humboldt, but will stop for a water toss.
Crossing the river into Humboldt.
CN and CP cross paths at Humboldt. CP 290 waits for the WC to leave, and later will leave for Saint Paul after a grain train clears.
The WC comes up to the Highline ready to drop the CP cars and go grab the BN cars at Stinson.
A pair of ICs lead an imposter up the high line.
Three SD40-2s blow their guts out while just topping Shoreham hill. Too bad the lighting sucked royally!
Three sublettered units come out of Shoreham and onto the Highline.
Notching it up on the hill, Charlie easily makes 30 MPH up to New Brighton.
About 6 25 in the mornin, Charlie squints in the glowing$sun.
