A day-long trip between mile posts CP41 and CP89 on the CSX River Line netted 11 trains, some spectacular scenery and a fun mid-winter's day. Enjoy the ride!
Southbound train about to hop on the Iona Island Trestle
About to enter CP41 and Iona Island
Notice the signal at MP41 behind the empty ethanol tanks
Heading north along the river towards Selkirk
Heading south about to enter the snake pit...(see next 2 shots)
At the base of Storm King Mt, the loaded ethanol snakes its way along the river shore in one of the most scenic spots along the Hudson
The K433 looks like a giant snake winding its way south away from Storm King Mountain. This shot was taken from high atop Storm King Mountain. What a spectacular view!
Taken from Storm King Mt., the Metro-North train is about to head into the tunnel on its way to Poughkeepsie
Taken from The Walkway over the Hudson bridge, this SB manifest is rolling along at 40mph.
At CP74, this SB manifest is heading to Oak Island, NJ
Nice to see some change in color once in a while!
Passing under the RT. 44/55 Mid-Hudson Bridge, 2 engines pulling elephant-style
Rolling past CP 77 in West Park, this little train scoots by in a flash
This engine was a surprise at the end of this short train. This loco is actually being pulled behind the train.
A MASSIVE flock of seagulls takes off from below the bridge as this train rolls across, threatening my shot of the fmr. UP rental unit in the power lineup. A strange and annoying haze was sitting over the Rondout Creek today...
The seagulls move out of the way just in time for this shot!
While watching some switching at the far end, this engine pulled up and parked, awaiting to hook up to another train to head to Selkirk
