CSX stack train is seen shoving back into the yards at East Syracuse as they continue to put their train together
John checks out the shot of the train he shot as it continues to shuffle cars in east Syracuse on a cold and damp December morning
with the conductor and engineer a snuggled and warm in the cab, the engineer eases the train west out of the yards
A pair on BNSF units headed east split the signals at 280.4, midway between E. Syracuse and Kirkville along Saintsville Rd with 97 loaded crude oil train and two idlers.
A trio of UP units race across the east end of the Chicago lgne just west of Kirkville along the Saintsville Rd at SR 280.4 on track 2 east bound and down
Here the loaded Ethanol train iu seen spliting the two zignals at 280.4 with the trio of uP units along Saintsville Rd on the Chicago line
Amtrak enginee calls the signals for train 284 and its six coaches rolls its way towards Utica and points east
A$CSX van train scurries across the Chicago line west of the intersectioc of Saintsville RD and Kirkville road seen in the far distance as they head for East Syracsse
Just outside of east Syracuse, the van train takes the medium clear and rolls as the track 2 signal indicates another is on the way to this location
Here a pair of ac44-cw switch out their train on the east end of the yards as seen from the opld Gmtrak location in E. Syracuse
Canadian National unit leads a pair of CSX units east through teh East Syracuse yards across from the long removed Amtrak stitioon there.
Omce the station fos Syracuse, it has long since been replaced furter east, here Amtrak 48, tThe Lake Shore Limited rolls past the station like an old friend, the engineer can be seen waving as vhey pass the location
Mostly empties, this trail is marked low on the operating priority, seen kicking up a little powdery snmw as it rolls through East Syracuse
This manifest freight charges into one of the]lake affect snow squalls and bone chilling winds aw they head west
A west bound van train charges west as a stack train is putting their train together on a cold, blustery December 31st 2013
The van train rolls past where may a passenger once detrained as they roll west into the stormy weather
The trailing unit on the west bound Van train is one of CSX's named unit, here you see the 699, Diversity rollinz west past the old Amtrak stations location.
The Stack train is easing forward...one has to feel sorry for teh conductor on teh ground as the winds begin to whip teh powdery snow directly at him...
A little obscured from the blowing sqows by a 30 mile an hour gusts as they continue to work their train
A bad marker has this stack train taking the running track to the office to change out the defective FRED
Standing along side the tracks, a railroad photographer with stands the bitter chill from tTe west winds as the stack train continues to crawl along the runner
east bound stack train continues to ease into the yards on the runner, as the west bound continues to put their train together as the blustery conditions stopped for a short time
The winds returned as soon as the east aound had cleared and the conductor is back in the wintery conditions
HO1 having come off the Vestal Spur at Johnson, the conductor steps into two feet of snow from the previous storm as a heavy light snow begins to fall
As the squall continues to pelt the conductor at Johnson, the sun attempts to come out, as the conductor prepares to cross the track and close up the Vestal spur at Johnson
The conductor climbs to the dry deck on the unit and soon will be a little warmer in teh cab ...for awhile at least
Having confirmed the Vestal spur as lined and locked as they head for the pocket to set off these cars with others for a pick up later in the day
HO1 passes the MP-JC-215 location at Crandall St. in Binghamton headed for the pocket switch...which was once called Murray St. switch
The Binghamton area had about two feet of snow from the brevious storms, the Susquehanna ran this plow train to move snow back away from teh right-a-way on the Syracuse side
Binghamton Precast sets to the right as the plow sets the flanger to clear the grooves at the crossing
Gates down, the BH2 shoves the plow north across the Syracuse main
I had to end the chase here, as I turned around the vehicle I grabbed these shots as they pass Prentice RD.

12t sets at the NS yard office awaiting a crew with two UP units collecting time owed the company
HO1 shoves a car west to add to 12t infront of the yard office at QD
HO-1's crew shoves their unit east and is about to park it and then will climb aboard the 12t's train cut away and pick up
Conductor looks down for a spot to disembark to line the derail as they prepare to add cars to teh 12t next to them
The conductor climbs off the 2356 after it stopped in the middle yard
Looking west and on the radio, teh conductor has the engineer stop so he can get the switches allowing them to begin getting cars for the 12t
The conductor leaves the HO1 to open the switch into the middle yard
Conductor calls out the distance between the power and the hopper as the Kilmer building stands tall behind them

CP 936-11 thunderously roars up the hill south of Sanitaria Springs on a blustery day in February
As the 936 roars towards me, the snows don't appear to bad...but I am standing in 2' of snow after crossing 3 !/2 to climb to this location
These three are giving everything they have with 80 loads on the Albany main
