Escanaba and Lake Superior

Stored cars on the siding at Stiles Jct. on the former Milwaukee Roads. From the siding the track curves off to the west to Oconto Falls. There used to be a diamond here where the CNW and Milwaukee crossed at grade. The weedy track is the ELS main, and is used more than appears.

Looking generally east toward Quncy and Cherry streets. Follow the line forward into the background to get to Stiles Junction (former at grade Junction of Milwaukee Road and Chicago and Northwestern). To the rear of the camera, the track splits to get to the co-op on one line or McDermid Warehousing and ST Paper on the other.

Three CSX cars spotted at the McDermid Warehousing facility in Oconto Falls. Oconto Falls is served by the ELS using former Chicago and Northwestern rails via Stiles Junction. There are a few rail served industries with rail service left in town.

Off spot cars along Quincy Street. Cherry Avenue runs between the groups of rail cars, and Quincy Street runs parallel. The three boxcars are all CSX.

Pulpwood cars in various states of loading are spotted on the northeastern leg of the ELS wye. This is on what was the Milwaukee Road's Sixth Subdivision.

Crivitz, WI is a major pulpwood transload location on the ELS. The facility is located on a wye. Two legs of the wye are visible here with the third leg behind the camera. The track going off to the right is the line that leads to Marinette. This line is used for storage as of 2013.

This view shot shows all three legs of the wye at Crivitz. Looking straight ahead down the main is the west leg. Between the bulkhead flats and the building the orange gondolas can be seen on thg northeast leg. Just off the edge of the driveway the southeast leg curves off out of tie picture to the right with some more bulkhead flats on it. Straight ahead the line continues what was the Milwaukee Road's Sixth Subdivision from Green Bay, WI to Channmng, MI. Off to the right, the northeast and southeast legs combine to begin what was the Milwaukee Road's Ninth Subdivision from Crivitz, WI to Marinette, WI.

ELS 1200 shoves its train across Hall St. (U.S. 41) on the CN railsthrough Marinette. Once across the the Menominee River, the train will continue its shove into the ELS yard at Menominee, MI.

The ELS 1200, now across the Menominee River, continues to shove its train toward the ELS yard. Former owner Republic Mining's lettering is faintly visible along the top of the hood's side. Look beneath the exhuast stack and you can see it.

Still continuing it's shove from Marinette, the ELS 1200 parallels a canal where a lucky fisherman gets a close run by.

Leased power leads a home road unit on the ELS main at Coleman. The train is heading for Green Bay on the old Milwaukee Road Sixth Subdivision that ran between Green Bay, WI and Channing, MI.

Formerly of Reserve Mining, the Escanaba and Lake Superior 1201 waits for its next assignment at Menominee, Michigan. The unit is one of two in town today, as there im another inside the old Milwaukee Road engine house.

The ELS departs the CN Green Bay Terminal (formerly Chicago and Northwestern North Green Bay Yard) and heads back to home rails. The ELS train will be headed north from Green Bay on the former Milwaukee Road right of way. This setting is at the N. Military Avenue grade crossing.

An ELS train heads north out of the Canadian National Green Bay Terminal with traffic for customers along the former Milwaukee Road line north to the Michigan Upper Peninsula. The train is still on CN (Chicago and Northwestern) right of way and will soon be taking a connection to the former Milwaukee right of way.
