The LCL2 crew assembles a locomotive consist at Shively, including PAL 2013 during its first visit to Louisville. The special scheme commemorates the University of Louisville Cardinals' 2013 victory as the NCAA Men's Basketball National Champions. Built August 1997 as CSXT 706, the unit would later become CSXT 4506 and eventually PAL 4506 when it was acquired by P&L Transportation in early 2013. Finally, the unit emerged from VMV as PAL 2013 during mid February 2014.
Three mother/slugs and a GP40-2 head south through Black Rock with empties from Mill Creek. With seven 4-axles, chasing this train just seemed like the right thing to do. Traditional PAL consists like this one are becoming increasingly rare with the "new" SD70MAC's on the scene. Enjoy it while it lasts!
